About The Position

The Maintenance Technician Apprentice is responsible for multiple locations in Mt. Vernon, IL. This role involves maintaining equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning, and performing preventive maintenance. The apprentice will also facilitate repairs, maintain a safe and clean work environment, test new equipment, and ensure continuity among work teams through documentation and communication. Computer knowledge for email and computer-related forms is required, as is participation in training for existing and new equipment. The role contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results and achieving financial and Key Result Area targets. Professional and technical knowledge will be increased through educational workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
Must have the manual dexterity to operate equipment, work in confined spaces, able to use power and hand tools, required crouching and/or crawling, and able to use a ladder.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities and ability to work independently in high priority, confidential, demanding business environment.
Must have a valid driver’s license and must be insurable as a driver.
Must be computer literate in MS Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Nice To Haves

3-5 years’ experience of maintenance construction field or more preferred.
Experience in telecommunications is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Maintains equipment by troubleshooting, repairing, cleaning and maintaining related equipment.
Provides preventive maintenance.
Facilitates repairs as required.
Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
Tests new equipment as directed.
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
Participates in training for existing and new equipment.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Increases professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reading professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing Financial and Key Result Area targets pursuant to Company plan guidelines.
