The Maintenance Technician II performs skilled work related to the installation, operation, maintenance, modification, service and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and structural systems. They monitor machine performance, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot problems, and make necessary adjustments. This role involves understanding and following all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical apparatus, dealing with complex factors, and making decisions based on conclusions and findings. The technician will install and repair various electrical equipment, work with blueprints and other specifications, use different welding equipment, and utilize electricians’ hand tools and measuring/testing equipment. They will diagnose and correct trouble in electrical systems or equipment, perform visual and mechanical inspections to maintain machinery, follow a preventive maintenance program, and conduct regular equipment inspections. Additionally, the role includes performing minor and major repairs on buildings, notifying management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment, providing on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Additional projects or duties may be assigned by the Team Leader.
