About The Position

This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and skilled repairs on production equipment, building systems, and facility infrastructure. Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment and systems for performance, safety, and effectiveness. Performs equipment failure analysis to complete preventive and unscheduled maintenance activities. Troubleshoots and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plumbing, and facility-related issues. Maintains accurate maintenance records and logs within the designated maintenance management system. Ensures compliance with company safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. Works independently within established procedures and has gained proficiency in multiple maintenance and facility-related competencies relevant to the job. In Salem, Oregon, this position also supports facility operations including HVAC systems, boilers, wastewater systems, building mechanical equipment, plumbing infrastructure, utilities, grounds, contractor coordination, and overall site maintenance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years’ experience in a high-speed packaging, manufacturing, facilities maintenance, or similar industrial environment.
  • Formal training in one or more of the following: air conditioning/HVAC, welding, machining, auto repair, electronics, industrial mechanics, building maintenance, or facility systems.
  • Vocational training, trade school education, military technical training, or technical certifications accepted in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains, in accordance with operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, including conveyor systems and production equipment, using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Performs scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and building systems.
  • Diagnoses and repairs minor mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing issues.
  • Assists in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and production downtime events.
  • Responds to maintenance work orders, service requests, and equipment breakdowns.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, and safety of maintenance work areas.
  • Ensures tools, equipment, and spare parts are properly maintained and stored.
  • Completes maintenance logs, work orders, inspection reports, and preventive maintenance documentation accurately.
  • Assists higher-level technicians with complex repairs, installations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Responds to maintenance calls and emergencies as directed.

  • Maintain overall facility infrastructure and associated building systems.
  • Perform preventive and reactive maintenance on facility equipment and site assets.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building mechanical systems including HVAC equipment, boilers, wastewater treatment systems, plumbing systems, and related utilities.
  • Perform and assist with facility plumbing repairs and resolve plumbing-related issues.
  • Conduct basic repairs on facility electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Monitor facility utility systems and building equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Respond to building alarms, utility interruptions, and facility emergency situations.
  • Support and coordinate activities of facility contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Assist with facility improvement projects, equipment installations, and building modifications.
  • Perform basic carpentry and building repair work as needed.
  • Support grounds and exterior building maintenance activities.
  • Participate in troubleshooting motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and building control systems.
  • Maintain records related to facility inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with OSHA, environmental, and facility safety requirements.
