About The Position

The High-Bay Freezer (HBF) Technician is responsible to ensure efficient operation of all mechanical equipment for the high-bay freezer and warehouse area. This includes mechanical and general facility maintenance, lubrication, sanitation, troubleshooting and repair of all equipment. This position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the mechanical equipment and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgement when a situation dictates.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of industrial mechanical experience required.
  • Must be able to perform sound welds in accordance with applicable welding code, standards, and/or project specifications, including wire feed, stick, Heli arc, Oxy-Acetylene and sanitary (food-safe) welds for repair and fabrication.
  • Six months of Forklift operating experience required.
  • Ability to work from heights and use fall protection equipment (equipment designed for workers weighing more than 120 lbs. but no more than 310 lbs. with gear).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) certification for entry into low oxygen freezer environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain authorized fall protection certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safe condition of equipment and the facility in accordance with SOPs and Company policies.
  • Performing a variety of skilled duties including painting, carpentry, cement masonry, plumbing, dry wall, and other recognized crafts for maintaining and repairing Simplot owned and operated building facilities.
  • Maintaining equipment such as batteries, forklifts, chargers, pumps, motors, doors, dock levelers, hydraulic systems, and product transport systems according to Company or manufacturer specifications.
  • Disassembling and reassembling equipment including motors, gearboxes, valves, hydraulic systems, couplers, alignment systems, and weighing systems.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment, machinery, and facilities as required by Company and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintaining shop inventories, tools, and equipment.
  • Creating, performing, and completing work orders in the system as assigned or as needed.
  • Coordinating or scheduling additional work as needed.
  • Identifying parts needed for work, conducting inventory searches, and locating parts.
  • Documenting, monitoring, maintaining, and assisting with reporting of shift events, logging predictive maintenance data, and assisting with work planning using information systems and productivity software.
  • Maintaining necessary communication with team members and other support groups.
  • Assisting with training other plant personnel.
  • Handling additional accountabilities required by management to meet operations standards.
