About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing all work tasks in a safe, timely, and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance in an industrial environment; troubleshooting and repairing production and facility equipment; and supporting the installation of utilities and equipment without reliance on external contractors, as applicable. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and responding to facility fire and burglar alarm systems, supporting general facility upkeep, and serving as a liaison with external service providers. The employee will also serve as a member of the site’s emergency response team. Periodic overtime is required.

Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical Schooling and/or Training in one or more maintenance crafts (plumbing/mechanical/electrical).
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude and have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in an Industrial Manufacturing environment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment (i.e. Pumps, Mixers, Motors etc.)
  • Minor electrical troubleshooting and installations (outlets, switches, and lights)
  • Plumbing: copper pipe, pipe threading, soldering, use of Pro press tools.
  • Advanced level abilities for maintaining, troubleshooting, problem solving, and repairing production equipment.
  • Time management skills, ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines.
  • Work in a team atmosphere with other maintenance and production workers with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effectively interact with different functional groups.
  • Proficient in the use of hand & power tools.
  • Ability to handle physical workload and lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Ability to use scissor lift equipment, drive a forklift and floor cleaning equipment.
  • May at times be required to work in tight/confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of welding, HVAC systems and lean principles a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshooting, calibrations and service on machines, pumps, motors, facilities equipment, and building systems, including HVAC units.
  • Rebuilds pumps and other production equipment.
  • Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
  • Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
  • Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
  • Minor electrical troubleshooting and installations (outlets, switches, and lights)
  • Plumbing work: run copper lines, pipe threading, repair & install plumbing fixtures
  • Work with CMMS system entering and closing WO’s and entering equipment and PM to CMMS system.
  • Compliance with all relevant FDA, SQF and OSHA procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times.
  • Follow all safety rules and SOP’s, while maintaining clean and organized work area with an accident and on-the-job injury free record.
  • Properly complete documentation including maintenance forms and equipment logbooks.
  • Support the company in achieving established operational goals.
  • Perform other maintenance work as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
