About The Position

Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. Under supervision of the Senior Property Director, the Maintenance Tech will maintain assigned tasks: repairs furniture and the structural integrity of buildings and electrical systems, and responds to other emergency maintenance requests as needed. The Maintenance Tech will work on projects that require a level of precision, involving exposure to chemical, loud noises, and equipment that is both automatic and manual.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in maintenance field or mechanical repair work
  • Valid Driver License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of power equipment and machines preferred
  • Knowledge of wall board repair and painting preferred
  • Background in carpentry, plumbing and installing sheet rock preferred
  • Basic knowledge in electricity preferred
  • Proficient computer skills preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
  • Must be efficient, organized, and have good communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all day programs are ready for standardized surveys.
  • Comprehends and performs work orders through company phone, emails, and assignments.
  • Assess properties, needed repairs, prepares tools and materials for required work and completes work orders to ensure the safety and health of individuals and employees.
  • Ensures the safety of all consumers present at the work sites.
  • Plunges toilets and ensures plumping and plumbing equipment are properly working. Performs repairs when needed.
  • Repairs sheetrock, spackles, and paints (interior and exterior) as needed.
  • Inspects, repairs, and installs electrical equipment/appliances, light switches, light fixtures, and light bulbs. Ensures breaker is properly working when an electric issue arises.
  • Transports furniture and other equipment.
  • Repairs locks and security systems as needed.
  • Troubleshoots mechanical issues in equipment/appliances.
  • Inspects heating and cooling systems, dryers, generators, and fire safety equipment.
  • Possesses familiarity with the function and makeup of HVAC systems. Performs basic HVAC repairs.
  • Collaborates with other maintenance workers to determine the best course of action for required tasks.
  • Prioritizes, multi-tasks, and responds to calls in a busy, multi-faceted, professional environment.
  • Follow procedures for careful handling of materials, tools and equipment, under OSHA.
  • Ensures that water temperature and fire extinguishers operate per agency regulations.
  • Assists in maintaining assigned location in a neat, orderly and safe manner, and reports all repairs and safety violations in a timely manner as per program specific needs.
  • Responds quickly and calmly to emergency requests.
  • Communicates effectively with visitors, contractors, vendors and delivery people to best address concerns and questions to ensure positive and accurate results.
  • Delivers packages to departments daily.
  • Provides coverage in emergency situations until relieved of the responsibility.
  • Observes Agency policy and procedures for building security and identification of authorized personnel.
  • Addresses emergency situations as they occur in the facility according to established policies and procedures, and ensures communication of such situations in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures that all walkways, entryways, driveways and parking lots are shoveled or plowed at FREE’s properties to avoid injuries during emergency inclement weather.
  • Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed /processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Always communicates in a respectful manner with all people including the people we support, supervisors, other valued team members, and members of the community.
  • Complies fully with FREE’s confidentiality policies by holding in strictest confidence all information pertaining to members, residents, the people we support and their families, clients, providers, contractors, and employees.
  • Meets all safety training requirements; adheres to all safety policies and reports any and all unsafe conditions; takes measures to prevent accidents and/or eliminate conditions that pose a safety or health risk.
  • Coordinates, supports, attends and participates in all required events/ meetings/ reviews/ committees, including ones outside of standard working hours.
  • Meets all job requirements and stays in compliance.
  • Adheres to FREE’s standard of ethical behavior as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct as well as applicable laws and regulations.
