Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, permits, and operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Understand basic math to calculate figures/amounts and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve practical problems.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of physical tasks and be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have correctable vision to see near and far objects, peripheral vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors.
  • Will be required to wear PPE, which can include welding PPE, respirators, and any other required PPE for specific tasks.
  • Able and willing to conform to a maintenance schedule, which can require being on call during off-duty hours, normally in a rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all plant equipment and facilities mechanically and electrically.
  • Perform mechanical repairs/installations.
  • Perform electrical repairs/installations.
  • Perform welding and fabrication.
  • Perform preventative maintenance.
  • Perform predictive maintenance.
  • Conduct maintenance/operational inspections.
  • Participate in developing improvements.
  • Participate in improving safety at the plant.
  • Assist Operations in their duties when needed.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Adhere to safety policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Participate in safety programs and improvements (developing ideas and installations).
  • Comply with environmental permits and operating requirements (including understanding permit requirements).
  • Manage environmental incidents.
  • Drive environmental improvements.
  • Make safe and responsible decisions independently regarding daily routine responsibilities and issues.
  • Understand when to consult with others for solutions.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities on all plant equipment as per schedule/requirements.
  • Perform basic electrical duties as required, including working with 480V systems (breakers/starters/wiring), disconnecting and properly reconnecting 3-phase motors, working with 110V wiring and systems (power panels), conduit, and conduit fittings.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues as required.
  • Repair/replace various control equipment throughout the plant.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation as required.
  • Service and repair mobile equipment as required, including excavators, front-end loaders, track mobiles, UTVs, welding pickup trucks, 10-wheeled trucks (water truck and dump truck), forklifts, and manlifts.
  • Repair belt conveyors, gearboxes, fans, blowers, pumps, air compressors, piping, valves, and any other mechanical equipment at the plant.
  • Perform general welding on plant equipment and fabrication as required with MIG and Stick (SMAW), mainly carbon steel but could include stainless steel and AR steel.
  • Use cutting torches, plasma cutters, and general metalworking tools/equipment.
  • Comply with plant policies/procedures in accordance with standards.
  • Learn to operate all plant equipment including forklifts (Class IV, VI, and VII), manlifts/aerial lifts, welding trucks, water trucks, large front-end loaders, excavators, track mobiles, and locomotives.
  • Perform operations duties as required, including operating large front-end loaders, excavators/material handlers, and UTVs.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or directed.
