About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining designated areas of the plant, including offices, restrooms, compressors, heating, piping, electrical lighting and power, water, air, building exterior and interior, vehicles, sewage plant, garbage disposal, and grounds. The position involves performing preventative maintenance, responding to work requests, and ensuring all assigned areas are kept in a safe, clean, and healthful condition. The Maintenance Tech will also be responsible for recommending and maintaining supplies, making suggestions for improvements, and performing groundskeeping duties such as lawn care, fence repair, tree limb removal, snow removal, and building repairs. Additionally, the role requires providing services like electricity and air to equipment and machines, and performing janitorial tasks.

Requirements

  • Must possess most of the following skills: Electrical, mechanical, pipefitting, painting, welding, lay-out and fabrication, vehicle repair, plumbing, material moving, carpentry, machine moving, and janitorial.
  • Must be able to work within the maintenance department performing such duties as cleaning machines and equipment.
  • Must be able to work extra and unusual hours when needed.
  • Must be able to read several of the following: schematics, drawings, blueprints, and instructions.
  • Must be able to supply own personal tools necessary to perform job assignments.
  • Proficient in a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office and department-specific software.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily practices that contribute to departmental housekeeping.
  • Perform waste water treatment operations.
  • Maintain designated areas of the plant, including offices, restrooms, compressors, heating, piping, electrical lighting and power, water, air, building exterior and interior, vehicles, sewage plant, garbage disposal, and grounds.
  • Recommend and maintain supplies and materials needed by the maintenance department.
  • Keep all assigned areas in a safe, clean, and healthful condition.
  • Make recommendations and suggestions on improving areas of responsibility and other areas of the plant.
  • Maintain plant grounds to include lawn care, fence repair, tree limb removal, snow removal in winter, and building repairs.
  • Provide services such as electric and air to new and used equipment and machines.
  • Perform job assignments from maintenance work requests and have them filled out and signed off in a timely manner.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and various daily, weekly, and monthly checks as required by IRI, OSHA, EPA, and DER, as assigned.
  • Clean and polish lighting fixtures, and trim.
  • Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors.
  • Assist in the training of employees.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities.
  • Report workplace safety hazards.
  • Suggest quality improvement methods.
