About The Position

ND Defense is looking for Maintenance Techs to work on temporary assignment from Sept 1, 2026 - Dec 31, 2026 on second shift from 630 pm - 5 am. The Maintenance Tech is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing the mechanical systems on industrial machinery and equipment (conveyors, presses, robotics, etc). Also maintains the general systems of the physical plant (HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, limited electrical, etc.).

Requirements

  • Familiarity with industrial automation equipment (presses, conveyors, robotics, etc.)
  • Familiarity with general trades (HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, limited electrical, etc.)
  • Ability to install, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical and facility systems.
  • Must be able to read and understand schematics.
  • Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lift heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, work in extreme cold and hot temperatures, squat, kneel, push, pull, and stand for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on complex electrical and mechanical production equipment and systems.
  • Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness.
  • Performs equipment failure analysis to complete preventive and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems.
  • Logs equipment modifications and maintenance details in the designated system.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains electrical components or mechanical systems of industrial machinery.
  • Following standard operating procedures, installs, inspects, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management systems.
  • Assists with miscellaneous facility projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, installation of fixtures, and moving furniture or materials within the facility.
  • Utilizes a work order system to log activities as required.
  • Works with or assists trades contractors to complete projects or complex repairs.
  • Follows all safety regulations and protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned.
