About The Position

River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders. River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).
River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented MAINTENANCE TECH - Responsible for day-to-day maintenance related activities including, but not limited to: maintaining the facility in a safe condition, performing general repairs and renovation activities. Participates in facility trash handling and assists with maintaining cleanliness of facility. Checks for work orders several times a day. Assembles tools and equipment needed for jobs and completes work assignments. Performs assigned preventative maintenance on equipment monthly. Time sensitive preventative maintenance (PM) to be completed on date of assignment. Willingly rotates on-call schedule for after hour emergencies. Participates in fire drills or an event as a member off the hospital fire brigade. Performs additional tasks as requested. Keeps Director informed of the status of projects, especially those in questionable condition for safety hazards, pending projects, etc. Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient and employee related information. Takes necessary precautions for self and others when using power equipment and chemicals (i.e. safety glasses, gloves, etc.)

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Maintenance experience required
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and handling of materials
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 100 pounds
• Requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function
• Reliable transportation is required
• Ability to work well with all types of people
• Ability to clearly speak, write and understand verbal and written English
• Ability to work with others in a team environment
• Provide service to all populations while demonstrating the Service Excellence Standards

Nice To Haves

• Formal education in skilled trades highly preferred
• Previous experience in institutional and/or commercial facility maintenance preferred
