A Maintenance Technician Training is a job classification for a future Maintenance position. The Maintenance Tech in training should have mechanical and electrical background, trade school or mechatronics classes as indicated in the educational requirements to prepare them for the on the job training they will receive by a qualified maintenance technician. The Technician in Training will receive instruction in basic troubleshooting techniques, trouble analysis and prevention, and machine maintenance and repair principles and techniques. They will receive assessments and reviews, and once training is completed and the member is deemed qualified, the member should be promoted to a maintenance technician position on the 12 hour night shift most likely. Upon Promotion to Maintenance Tech, the member will be presented with the appropriate job description and responsibilities for that position.
