Requirements

10+ years of industrial mechanical experience or a two-year technical degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of mechanical power transmission systems and equipment alignment.
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pneumatic systems using schematics, including vacuum generators.
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and install electronic and process control systems.
Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and schematics for troubleshooting and repairs.
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and test AC/DC/Servo motors in manual and automated control circuits.
Ability to use a multimeter to measure voltage, current, continuity, amperage, and resistance throughout a circuit.
Ability to calculate power within a circuit using current and voltage.
Ability to properly select and use measurement tools, including dial calipers and vernier micrometers.
Understanding of measurement accuracy, including the ability to measure TIR (runout) and flatness.
Ability to safely use hoists and other equipment to rig and move parts and machinery.
Ability to identify appropriate oils and lubricants based on manufacturer specifications and properly lubricate equipment.
Ability to safely dispose of used lubricants and oils according to applicable requirements.
Basic welding skills, including proper PPE selection and preparation of the welding process.
Must have own tools.
A required tool list will be provided, and tools must be on site within two weeks of hire.
Must have a flexible schedule.
Must be willing to work overtime, including weekends, when necessary.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic PC skills.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must be able to successfully complete HACCP certification.
Must have a forklift license or be able to complete required training within 90 days of hire.

Ability to communicate effectively and work tactfully with coworkers, other departments, and vendors.
Working knowledge of ovens, bakery equipment, and packaging equipment.
AIB Bakery Equipment training is helpful.

Responsibilities

Establish, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment throughout the production areas.
Identify and repair electrical and mechanical defects.
Serve as a potential Competency Specialist for the plant in areas such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lubrication, Predictive Maintenance (PDM), or other critical equipment specialties.
Help establish standards for assigned areas of responsibility while ensuring alignment with Dessert Holdings standards.
Effectively complete assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM) plans to help eliminate unplanned downtime.
Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment and process failures and provide insight and recommendations for corrective actions.
Install, align, and adjust mechanical power transmission components, including gearboxes, bearings, chains, shafts, and gears.
Troubleshoot and repair power transmission systems and perform preventative maintenance to extend equipment life and prevent unplanned downtime.
Complete preventative maintenance and other reliability tasks, including diagnostics, repairs, and machine rebuilds.
Partner with Engineering and other departments on non-routine repairs and equipment improvement opportunities.
Train operators on maintenance techniques when called to troubleshoot or repair equipment.
Document all maintenance activities accurately within the CMMS system and follow established CMMS processes and procedures.
Utilize CMMS records and OEM drawings to identify equipment improvements, maintainability opportunities, proper spare parts, and MRO alternatives.
Support the Preventative Maintenance program with the goal of continually reducing unscheduled downtime.
Follow all applicable food safety and quality requirements, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices.
Work safely and effectively while following applicable mechanical, fluid power, electrical power, welding, and environmental requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
