About The Position

Under the supervision of the Parks and Facilities Superintendent, this position performs advanced skilled and semi-skilled work in building maintenance, parks maintenance, construction, irrigation, and landscape maintenance throughout the District. Work includes, but is not limited to, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, concrete, irrigation repair, athletic field maintenance, mowing, pruning, snow removal, and general facility maintenance. This position is expected to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, maintain high-quality workmanship, and assist with leading projects and seasonal staff when assigned. The Maintenance Tech III position plays a key role in maintaining District facilities, parks, infrastructure, and capital improvement projects in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of experience in parks maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or related field.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License required.
  • Must possess or obtain a Colorado CDL Class A or B within six (6) months of employment.
  • Must possess or obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, snow, wind, dust, and noise.
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, lifting, and operating equipment.
  • Must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating commercial maintenance and construction equipment preferred.
  • Experience with irrigation systems, HVAC systems, athletic field maintenance, and computerized work order systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties on District facilities and infrastructure including roofing, drywall, flooring, concrete, doors, windows, locks, fencing, painting, plumbing, HVAC systems, and general carpentry.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and seasonal opening and winterization procedures on buildings and facility systems.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and mechanical systems.
  • Assist licensed trades personnel with installation and repair projects as required.
  • Perform maintenance painting using proper surface preparation methods, materials, and application techniques.
  • Maintain building structures and infrastructure in safe and operational condition.
  • Maintain District parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, trails, and landscaped areas.
  • Perform mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, fertilization, weed control, irrigation repair, aeration, topdressing, and turf maintenance activities.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields for practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
  • Inspect and repair playground equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform snow removal and ice mitigation operations during winter weather events.
  • Assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems including valves, controllers, mainlines, laterals, sprinklers, and central control systems.
  • Monitor irrigation efficiency and water usage to support District conservation goals.
  • Operate and maintain equipment including trucks, trailers, skid steers, loaders, trenchers, tractors, mowers, lifts, snowplows, backhoes, aerators, and other specialized equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment and vehicles.
  • Transport equipment, materials, and supplies safely throughout the District.
  • Utilize the District work order management system daily and maintain accurate documentation of labor hours, materials, inspections, repairs, and completed tasks.
  • Assist with coordinating projects, prioritizing tasks, and mentoring seasonal or lower-level maintenance staff.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, facility staff, and the public.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and follow all District safety policies and procedures.
  • Support capital improvement projects and special projects as assigned.
  • Respond to emergencies, weather events, and operational needs as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
