About The Position

Michael Foods, Inc. is seeking an experienced electrical/controls/E&I/Automation technician for their West Jefferson, OH location. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting highly automated equipment, ensuring equipment productivity and efficiency through preventive and corrective maintenance. The position requires adherence to safety and food quality standards, including GMPs, USDA, OSHA, SQF, and FDA compliance guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to function in a teamwork environment.
  • Must be well-organized.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize activity.
  • Ability to comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work safely with chemicals.
  • Experience working on/with any of the following equipment: Servo Motors, PLCs, (Allen Bradley) Photo Sensors/Eyes, VFDs, HMIs, and low voltage experience in a manufacturing or production facility.
  • Automation, electro mechanical, electrical, or E&I experience is recommended.

Nice To Haves

  • Food manufacturing/GMP or Liquid bottling experience is highly desired.
  • Tetra Pak or Evergreen experience is highly desired!

Responsibilities

  • Receive training, maintain, and learn on highly automated equipment from Sweden, called Tetra Pak.
  • Working directly on cappers, seamers, fillers, homogenizers, etc.
  • Comply with safety work rules at all times and reinforce safety as a core value.
  • Ensure that all policies, procedures and activities, related to food safety & quality, are followed and complied with uniformly.
  • Ensure the equipment productivity and efficiency through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adheres to all safety policies/procedures and incorporates safety and health in all job’s duties/tasks.
  • Adheres to safe work practices, follows GMP’s, maintains sanitary conditions and ensures that product quality is maintained.
  • Reports any conditions or practices that may adversely affect employee safety or food safety/quality to management immediately.
  • Attends and actively participates in safety meetings/trainings.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Complete preventative maintenance requirements on all equipment.
  • Monitor efficiency of all equipment and troubleshoot when necessary.
  • Remove or replace defective parts by dismantling and reassembling equipment.
  • Adjust all necessary components of equipment as needed.
  • Repair and adjust all doors as needed.
  • Must adhere to budget, USDA, OSHA, SQF, and FDA compliance guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
