About The Position

Assist in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility where employed. This role involves ensuring equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements, troubleshooting equipment, and adhering to all safety and environmental regulations. The position also requires active participation in team development and a commitment to Simmons Operating Systems principles.

Requirements

• Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
• Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
• Must be able to manually lift or move objects weighing 75-150 pounds.
• Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, on feet for entire shift.
• Must be able to work in cramped, enclosed, elevated, wet, dirty area with a noise level above 90 decibels.
• Will use appropriate footwear, hearing protection and other protective equipment as needed or required.
• Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.

Nice To Haves

• Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
• Consults with Engineers and vendors as needed.
• Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
• Troubleshoots equipment.
• Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
• Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
• Maintains familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN) and understands the position’s role in support of these systems.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
