About The Position

Gainey's Concrete Products is seeking a Maintenance Tech I to assist with repair, maintenance, welding, and fabrication services. The role involves ensuring the efficient accomplishment of daily fabrications as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and VP of Operations, while upholding safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards. The company has been a leader in custom precast concrete solutions for over 45 years, serving Louisiana and the Gulf Coast with innovative and resilient infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, helpful, and possess strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to multitask and provide attention to accuracy and detail.
  • General carpentry skills (table saw, miter saw, circular saw).
  • Automotive and industrial mechanical skills.
  • Ability to use various tools and machinery (hand tools, electric and pneumatic impacts).
  • Ability to remove tires and wheels from equipment.
  • Able to read and interpret production drawings.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and occasionally work longer than the normal schedule.
  • Able to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, working independently without supervision, energetic, positive attitude, and helpful.
  • Highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills for diverse team environments.
  • Ability to learn basic rigging and concrete repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing & electrical work (repairing leaking water lines, replacing electrical outlets and light fixtures).
  • Must be able to complete a 7-year background check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of operating heavy equipment (tractors, excavators, skid steer, aud forklift) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed safety, quality, housekeeping, and production efficiency objectives.
  • Perform cleaning, lubricating, and other routine maintenance work.
  • Use hand tools, hoists, jacks, and power tools to assemble, install, align, and adjust machines.
  • Fabricate from semi-finished or raw materials using cutting, folding, machining, shearing, MIG and stick welding.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machines, including unexpected issues.
  • Read work orders, diagrams, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Ensure operating safety devices function properly after repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Resolve routine equipment issues.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain shop tools and equipment.
  • Offload trucks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, sometimes outside the maintenance scope.
