About The Position

Assist in equipment repair and preventative maintenance procedures in the operation of the facility where employed. This role involves repairing, replacing, and correcting equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements. The technician will consult with Engineers and vendors as needed, perform layout work for projects, and troubleshoot equipment. A strong emphasis is placed on meeting safety requirements, complying with all policies and regulations set forth by Simmons and government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle operation, and the handling of food products, ingredients, and packaging. The position also requires active participation as a team member, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team concepts, programs, and policies. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, LEAN, etc.) is expected, along with understanding the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns or improvement ideas. This role is crucial in supporting business objectives and may involve duties beyond the explicitly described tasks.

Requirements

  • Must have experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
  • Military experience is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, replaces, corrects or affects equipment as needed to ensure equipment operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
  • Consults with Engineers and vendors as needed.
  • Accomplishes layout work for each project as needed.
  • Will be able to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Meets safety requirements in accomplishing responsibilities of this position complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons or various government agencies concerning safety, environment, vehicle, handling of food products, packaging, ingredients and any related items.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
