About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I Coordinator position is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Supervisor in meeting departmental goals, including line call management, PM completion, budget stewardship, and project execution. This role involves coordinating maintenance resources to address line calls and other assigned tasks, working within the SAP PM environment for work order management, and preparing for planned and shutdown work. The position also requires requesting quotes, generating purchase requisitions, organizing PMs, reviewing completed work, and inputting shift notes. The role supports production by minimizing equipment downtime and responding promptly, completing preventative maintenance and repairs, and troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems. The position requires the ability to work on projects individually and with a cross-functional team, and may involve 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts, including mandatory overtime and weekends. Assignments in the Duraplate division may require 12-hour shifts and coverage across all scheduling options. Other duties as needed or required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Prior experience with the following skills: Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and Electrical (24DC, 120/277/480AC) systems.
  • Methodical problem solving to identify root cause of breakdowns.
  • Must have the ability to plan job schedules and processes.
  • Ability to work on projects both individually and cross functionally.
  • Must be capable of rapidly responding, adapting to changing and nonstandard situations, while remaining thorough and safety conscious during entire process.
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools (power and hand), ability to make detailed measurements using instruments, including but not limited to, tape measures, micrometers, and dial calipers.
  • Must have the ability to read detailed engineering drawings, prints, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience using SAP and SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) is a necessity.
  • Excellent Communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of 480-volt AC/DC motor controls required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ladder logic preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Maintenance Supervisor in meeting departmental goals which includes, but is not limited to, line call management, PM completion, budget stewardship, and project execution.
  • Coordinate maintenance resources, taking into account safety, quality, and productivity, to address line calls and other assigned tasks.
  • Work within the SAP PM environment to create, update, and close out work orders.
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to determine the manpower required for planned work.
  • Prepare (i.e. submitting instructions, gathering parts) for planned and/or shutdown work and follow up on plans for completeness.
  • Request quotes and generate purchase requisitions for materials, as required, for work orders.
  • Print and organize PMs for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Review all completed PMs and generate work orders for any items needing follow-up.
  • Review all shift notes and complete any follow-ups requested.
  • Input shift notes into departmental downtime tracker.
  • Identify and communicate turnover work.
  • Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.
  • Complete planned preventative maintenance and planned production equipment repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
  • Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash's Leadership Principles and Values.
  • Ability to work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
  • Perform other duties as needed or required.
