Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.
  • Driver License

  • Ability to climb 100 feet in the air and into 12 foot pits. (Layer Farm only)
  • Ability to work in various positions, standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, etc.
  • Ability to work outside during the winter for long periods of time.
  • Ability to safely lift 80 lbs. occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Fixing and repairing machinery and devices inside Poultry houses as well as production machinery.
  • Communicating with farm supervisor about projects or systems to fix and to work on together.
  • Available to work at multiple locations.
  • Follow Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Maintaining fans, baffle systems and cool cell systems.
  • Maintaining egg collection system, including but not limited to, elevator chain adjustment, drive chain adjustment, rod conveyors and air cylinders for egg savers. (Only at Layer Houses)
  • Gear box maintenance and cross conveyor belts.
  • Maintaining manure system in belt houses including, but not limited to, replacement and adjustment of belts, tracking of belts, repair and welding of belts, repair and adjustment of drive rollers, greasing of idler rollers and repair adjustment of cross conveyors and incline belts.
  • Vulcanizing of cross conveyor belts. (Only at Layer Houses)
  • Assisting in the pulling of pits and belts.
  • Maintaining an efficient, clean and organized work area.
  • Monitoring and inventory usage of parts.
  • Adhering to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
