About The Position

This role involves working as part of a team of mechanics and personnel to support a manufacturing operation with the goals of increasing productivity, decreasing downtime, and reducing scrap. The position requires troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic machinery, electric motors, and conveyors. Responsibilities may extend to plumbing, metalworking, mechanics, and electricity. A key aspect of the role is controlling downtime through routine preventive maintenance and collaborating with operators to ensure machines run at peak performance while adhering to the highest safety standards. The role also involves maintaining continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and needs, as well as managing equipment, parts, and supplies inventory. Collaboration with other maintenance mechanics is essential for anticipating equipment, parts, and supply needs. The position requires an active role in overall plant and facilities-related work, performing root cause failure analysis to prevent recurring maintenance issues, and adhering to all company safety rules and 5S standards for shop and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other maintenance mechanics.
  • Ability to share ideas with others to solve problems of essential importance.
  • Excellent communication skills with operators and mechanics.
  • Ability to readily initiate equipment improvements and work with various groups within the plant in the identification and resolution of manufacturing problems.
  • Willingness to participate in and ability to learn from the Company sponsored training programs, self -study and apprenticeship, to supplement on-the-job experience toward the development of required skills.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Must show leadership in the advancement of quality improvement throughout the manufacturing area.
  • Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • 5 - 8 years of experience with industrial maintenance preferably with packaging or Manufacturing equipment.
  • Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting / maintaining / repairing electro-mechanical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic machine, electric motors, conveyors, etc.
  • Controlling downtime by performing routine preventive maintenance techniques and working closely with operators on keeping machines running at peak operation while maintaining the highest safety standards.
  • Maintaining continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintaining equipment, parts and supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels.
  • Work closely with other maintenance mechanics to anticipate needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Assume active role in overall plant and facilities-related work.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis to eliminate repeat occurrences maintenance issues.
  • Follow all company safety rules
  • Maintain shop and shop equipment per 5S
  • Other duties as assigned
