About The Position

The Maintenance Tech 2 works mainly outdoors at BREC parks and facilities. Performs general maintenance duties as assigned and may be required to drive pickup truck and trailer.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid LA Driver's License
• One (1) year related to specific area of hire
• Specialized experience in specific field of hire (Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Welding, Tree Care, Horticulture, Sports Turf, Grounds Maintenance)
• Ability to operate maintenance equipment and motorized vehicles.
• Ability to read and write the English Language
• Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities
• Ability to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., occasionally
• Ability to follow simple oral & written instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of commercial type equipment including, but not limited to; riding mowers, trucks, trailers, tractors with various attachments, aerifiers, blowers, pressure washer, powered hand tools, and other related maintenance equipment in order to maintain parks, athletic fields, and other facilities.
• Repairs and maintains playground equipment, athletic field maintenance and set-up, and performs other repairs as directed.
• Levels park surfaces, digs/fills ditches, loads dirt/sand/gravel/brush/debris and other materials onto trucks.
• Cuts/loads/removes tree limbs.
• Drives trucks and trailers loaded with equipment from site to site.
• Assists trades or other specialized staff with repairs as directed.
• Assists other personnel as directed by supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
