About The Position

Maintains, adjusts, and repairs plant machinery to meet industry standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies including USDA, OSHA, FDA, EPA, Local Government, independent auditors, and the company’s own stated quality standards. Performs these tasks at a journeyman's skill level. This role requires regular and predictable attendance as an essential function.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or Certificate from a college or technical trade school in Industrial Fabrication, Industrial Electrical, Machining or Millwright Program and at least five years of applicable industrial work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams.
  • Ability to read machine drawings.
  • Advanced understanding of Fluid mechanics (hydraulics & pneumatics).
  • Experience in Mig. and Tig. welding.
  • Extensive experience with precision tools such as micrometers, Vernier & dial calipers, dial indicators, levels, gauge blocks.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC knowledge preferred.
  • Food grade welding knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete maintenance records and PM schedules for all equipment and facilities.
  • Recommend equipment modifications to improve the process, productivity, and finished product quality.
  • Analyze performance issues related to equipment, including tearing down, inspecting, and replacing components as needed.
  • Troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical equipment to define root cause and repair in a timely manner.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems and solid state equipment.
  • Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and expense to the company.
  • Design, measure, analyze, implement, and control (DMAIC) mechanical process improvements.
  • Practice continuous improvement concepts in all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Locate critical spares in the market for items not in inventory.
  • Implement factory-recommended equipment maintenance schedules and develop schedules for areas where none exist.
  • Repair downed equipment efficiently in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.
  • Train and coach associates on technical and procedural duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Undergo training on Good Manufacturing Practices critical to the effective implementation of the Food Safety Plan and the maintenance of food safety, quality, and process efficiency.
  • Undergo training on identifying food safety issues such as temperature control, cross-contamination, sanitation, and cleanliness of lines.
