About The Position

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position oversees the secure functioning, prompt restoration, and appropriate upkeep of sites for Operations personnel while providing assistance for various duties within the maintenance department. Requirements

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, tools, materials, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems and basic building maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety practices, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Knowledge of energy conservation practices related to HVAC system operation and maintenance.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, and specifications.
  • Skill in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC and related mechanical systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and skill in the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and machinery.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing required documentation.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, parents, contractors, community members, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Skill in communicating concerns, evaluations, recommendations, and technical information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply information contained in Safety Data Sheets (SDS), equipment manuals, work orders, and other technical documents.

  • Ability to recognize, identify, and respond appropriately to potential safety hazards and emergency situations, including recommending corrective actions.

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Possess or obtain, within a timeframe established by the District, credentials or certifications as required by District needs, which may include: EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Lead-Safe Certification. Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification. Asbestos Management training or certification, as applicable.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Oregon or Washington Driver License.
  • Maintain a driving record acceptable to the District and remain insurable under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
  • Maintain personal automobile insurance meeting District requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid First Aid/CPR certification (if required for the position).

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and mechanical work on District HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Inventories heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) equipment to support the District's preventive maintenance program.
  • Inspects, evaluates, and recommends preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for HVAC equipment.
  • Maintains accurate preventive maintenance records and related documentation.
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on District HVAC and related mechanical equipment.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting and diagnostic analysis of HVAC and related building systems.
  • Ensures HVAC systems are operated and maintained to support energy conservation practices.
  • Diagnoses and corrects problems related to HVAC systems and associated building mechanical systems.
  • Safely operates hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, vehicles, and machinery necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Assists with maintenance projects in other skilled trades (including carpentry, plumbing, custodial, grounds, electrical, or general maintenance) as assigned to support District operations.
  • Estimate and schedule work completion including but not limited to work schedule, material deliveries, and required man-hours, supplies and parts orders, contracting out options and clean-up
  • Make correct purchases for supplies and materials from lists provided by the Operations Staff technicians
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the efficient operation and maintenance of District facilities
  • Maintain a clean and neat personal appearance; follow District uniform/dress code guidelines.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Comply with District procedures, policies, and safety guidelines.
