About The Position

As a Maintenance Supervisor at Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries, Kansas City, MO, this role provides leadership and oversight of the maintenance team to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. Reporting to the Department Manager, this position plays a critical role in coordinating preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals who are hands-on leaders with strong technical expertise and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry
• 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience
• Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field, preferred
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Welding and fabrication experience, preferred
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues
• Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office
• Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and industrial safety best practices
• Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to lead teams and influence outcomes
• Perform work in a manufacturing or plant environment
• Stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the facility as required
• Lift, carry, and handle materials as needed
• Meet additional physical requirements necessary to support job responsibilities

Nice To Haves

• Welding and fabrication experience, preferred
• Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field, preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations
• Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
• Enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies to maintain a safe working environment
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed
• Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of required components
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement
