About The Position

The Healthcare Resort of Topeka is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join their team. This role involves supervising maintenance tasks and personnel, ensuring safety and infection control standards are met, and maintaining the facility. The position requires administrative responsibilities, coordination with other departments, and managing supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of supervising maintenance tasks.
  • Supervise the day-to-day maintenance functions of assigned personnel.
  • Participate in setting maintenance standards and developing procedures for daily maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services.
  • Ensure work schedules are followed.
  • Perform administrative requirements and submit necessary forms and reports.
  • Implement recommendations from Infection Control, Safety, and QA Committees.
  • Ensure fire protection and prevention programs are maintained.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel follow safety precautions and use safety equipment.
  • Ensure assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and attractive manner.
  • Promptly report equipment or facility damage.
  • Assist in maintaining safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensure containers of hazardous chemicals are properly labeled and stored.
  • Report all hazardous conditions or equipment.
  • Ensure infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained.
  • Ensure personnel performing tasks with potential exposure participate in in-service training.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel follow established handwashing procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel wear protective clothing/devices.
  • Report occupational exposures incidents to the Director.
  • Ensure refuse is disposed of daily and in accordance with sanitation procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel follow policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and infectious wastes.
  • Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
  • Conduct daily inspections of assigned work areas.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Executive Director.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of maintenance supplies is maintained.
  • Monitor maintenance procedures to ensure efficient use of supplies.
  • Ensure appropriate personal protective equipment is available and accessible.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
  • Label or tag equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious materials.
