About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the maintenance team and ensuring the safe, reliable operation of the nursery's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure. This position oversees preventive maintenance programs, equipment repairs, facility improvements, and contractor management while maintaining budgets and promoting a culture of safety. Success in this role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, leadership experience, and the ability to prioritize maintenance activities in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

Requirements

  • Five (5) or more years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, agriculture, greenhouse, industrial, or similar operations.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and equipment troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance planning.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while fostering teamwork and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency using maintenance records, work orders, and inventory management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team to ensure efficient daily operations.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance program for all nursery equipment and the facility.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of greenhouse structures, irrigation systems, environmental controls, heaters, fans, vents, and other production systems.
  • Coordinate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, pumps, conveyors, electrical systems, plumbing, and production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair plumbing, irrigation, and water well issues to minimize downtime.
  • Assign, monitor, and inspect maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion and quality workmanship.
  • Manage outside contractors and vendors while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Maintain the maintenance shop, equipment inventory, tools, and supplies.
  • Monitor facility conditions and promptly address safety hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, preventive maintenance schedules, service requests, expenditures, and project status.
  • Recommend facility and equipment improvements to increase operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements while promoting a safe work environment.
