About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is a hands-on, working supervisor responsible for both actively performing skilled maintenance work and leading the day-to-day operations of the maintenance team. This role requires a highly skilled maintenance professional who can independently complete repairs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance while also providing leadership, direction, and oversight to the maintenance staff. This position is not solely administrative. The Supervisor is expected to regularly work alongside the team, performing maintenance tasks, responding to facility issues, and serving as a technical resource while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including scheduling, training, and performance management. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant facility environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience in facilities or maintenance roles, including leadership or team lead experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical).
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage daily operations effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and work order tracking.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Actively perform hands-on maintenance and repair work across facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
  • Serve as a working lead, completing work orders and preventive maintenance tasks while supervising and supporting maintenance technicians.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians and support staff.
  • Assign and prioritize work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and repair projects.
  • Monitor team performance and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex facility issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and equipment servicing.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support facility needs and operational goals.
  • Assist in vendor coordination and oversight of contracted services.
  • Support inventory management of tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new maintenance personnel.
