About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all equipment and machinery. The role includes managing a team of maintenance technicians, planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Supervisor plays a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring optimal performance of all systems. The Maintenance Supervisor is the front-line driver for the Maintenance Team's performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role, with at least 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and packaging systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Familiarity with budgeting and cost control processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Lead safety training programs for maintenance staff to ensure proper handling of equipment and tools.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Lead and motivate a team of maintenance technicians to meet departmental objectives
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that encourages teamwork and accountability.
  • Manage conflict resolution and performance issues within the team.
  • Set clear expectations and provide regular feedback on team members’ performance.
  • Oversee daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring timely response to equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs.
  • Manage work orders, track progress, and ensure timely completion of all maintenance tasks.
  • Assign and follow up on work orders using the computer maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and training opportunities to team members to enhance their technical skills.
  • Conduct performance reviews and set development plans for staff.
  • Allocate resources effectively and balance workload across team members and all shifts.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and skills for routine and emergency maintenance needs.
  • Adjust schedules to meet maintenance requirements and production needs like overhauls, changeovers, complexities, upgrades and new products.
  • Develop and maintain a proactive maintenance schedule to prevent equipment downtime.
  • Utilize planned equipment downtime to perform required maintenance.
  • Plan and escalate longer downtime windows as needed to complete work.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks based on urgency, production schedules, and available resources.
  • Coordinate with other departments to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance efficiency and downtime reduction.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for complex repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems in equipment.
  • When applicable, conduct or assist maintenance activities personally.
  • Analyze root causes of frequent breakdowns and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure proper functioning and reliability of all equipment and machinery.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and maintenance best practices.
  • Track equipment lifecycle and recommend replacements or upgrades when necessary.
  • Understand and report on maintenance costs by area or work center
  • Monitor spending on parts, labor, and maintenance supplies to avoid budget overruns.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction without compromising safety or quality.
  • Track and report on cost-saving initiatives and their impact on overall maintenance operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records, work orders, and equipment logs.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on maintenance activities, downtime, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with all documentation requirements for safety audits, inspections, and regulatory standards.
  • Document and report issues related to equipment performance, repairs, and parts inventory.
