About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading, coordinating and performing maintenance activities within the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of processing and supporting equipment by developing preventative maintenance programs, supervising maintenance personnel, and responding to equipment issues in a fast-paced recycling environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred
5+ yrs of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or recycling environment preferred
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Strong understanding of safety practices and OSHA standards
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems required
Knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics strongly preferred
Experience with conveyors, screens, optical sorters, and balers strongly preferred
Previous employment in industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, and odors preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift at least fifty (50) pounds
Availability to work weekends and respond to emergencies in off-hours

Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, develop and participate in a team of maintenance mechanics, ensuring high performance, accountability, and adherence to safety standards
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including OSHA standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and company safety policies
Coordinate and prioritize daily maintenance activities, including repairs to conveyors, balers, sort systems, compactors, and mobile equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and ensure timely resolution
Take ownership of the preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and extend equipment life; preferably creating both short- and long-term schedules
Partner with Operations to schedule maintenance work while minimizing disruption to production
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history using a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate ordering of parts, tools, and supplies
Oversee contractor work and ensure quality and safety expectations are met
Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and operational efficiency
Assist in budgeting, cost control, and capital improvement planning for maintenance-related projects
Complete other tasks assigned by leadership
