About The Position

Berks Packing Co., Inc., a leading manufacturer of hot dogs, deli meats, and specialty meat products, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance team and provide hands-on technical support in a fast-paced food processing environment. This is not a desk-only position. The successful candidate must have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and be capable of personally repairing and maintaining a wide variety of equipment used throughout a food manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food processing.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of: Mechanical systems, Electrical controls, Motors and drives, Pumps and compressors, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, PLC troubleshooting, Refrigeration systems (a plus), Packaging and processing equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated, wet, and fast-paced production environments.
  • Must be willing to respond to maintenance emergencies as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience repairing and maintaining equipment such as: Smokehouses, Conveyors, Vacuum packaging machines, Slicers, Grinders, Mixers, Stuffers, Labeling and packaging equipment, Boilers and facility utility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance technicians and outside contractors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair food processing and packaging equipment.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance of machinery, utilities, and facility systems.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs.
  • Prioritize work orders and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Work closely with Production, Quality Assurance, and Sanitation teams to maintain operational efficiency.
