Maintenance Supervisor

About The Position

To be the liaison between Management and Hourly employees; directs the daily activities of maintenance employees; ensures the department is performing in a Safe and quality-conscious manner; ensures that all required plant safety and performance testing is performed; directs actions to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the department.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Supervisory or other Leader type role preferred; background in maintenance
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be willing to attend college to obtain a minimum 2-year degree in Business or other related field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all publicized safety policies/procedures and JIBS applicable to the job.
  • Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role.
  • Encourage, attend, and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits, and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned.
  • Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified.
  • Participate in weekly department safety walk-thru, cultivate self-driven department safety teams, coordinate maintenance safety projects
  • Promote completion of BBS Observations
  • As necessary, complete accident investigation forms within 24 hours
  • As necessary, address safety items from Maintenance as well as other departments
  • Support adherence to ISO Standards
  • Understand and maintain Department Quality Standards
  • Recommend merit increases
  • Complete/ Drive employee evaluations
  • Initiate/ Drive employee recognition
  • Monitor/ Evaluate training needs
  • Lead/ Participate in communication meetings
  • Encourage participation in continuing education
  • Participate in communication meetings
  • Participate in focus groups
  • Lead TPM programs
  • Drive all CI projects and initiatives
  • Implement actions to improve Lean culture in the department
  • Establish schedules/ man power (as required)
  • Monitor shortfalls
  • Establish actions to RTG
  • Lead/ Facilitate daily Tier 1 Meetings
  • Participate in daily Tier 2 and Tier 3 meetings
  • Pre-meeting, review Supervisors Standard Work
  • Ensure Red-to-Green items are addressed as necessary
  • Cover Safety items as necessary
  • Direct Ergonomic Stretching exercises
  • Ensure 5S standard is maintained by performing 5S walk-through at beginning of shift and continuously monitoring 5S during shift
  • Input time and attendance in ADP
  • Review Supervisor Standard Work with Area Manager
  • Daily Department reviews with Area Manager
  • Yearly employee evaluations
  • Recognition and Disciplinary procedures with employees as required
  • Participate in periodic plant-wide assessments
  • Review Technicians Standard Work
  • Monitor WIP, SP, and raw materials (continuous) spare parts
  • Coordinate with all departments to facilitate throughput
  • Prepare requisitions for approval
  • Maintain visual control over CI boards
  • Maintain and update the monthly TPM chart
  • Understanding and use of SAP to track history and forecast possible issues before they arise.
