About The Position

Responsible for leading maintenance operations to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all production equipment and facility systems. This role supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, minimizes equipment downtime, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Supervisor works closely with production, engineering, and reliability teams to optimize equipment performance, improve maintenance processes, manage work orders, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Journeyman training in the mechanical trades or a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organized and people focused managerial skills, decisive decision making and the ability to influence through communication skills and being an example.
  • Safety conscious and willing to work in an industrial environment
  • Desire to work in an industrial environment and production atmosphere and climb in/around equipment
  • Strong management, leadership, decision making and interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Results oriented.
  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance or engineering required.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Strong initiative and perseverance
  • Possess ambulatory capabilities to walk extensively, climb ladders and stairways; and also be able to tolerate temperature extremes in carrying out responsibilities.

  • Must be able to work in varying conditions (indoor/outdoor, heights, confined spaces).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and seldom up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
  • Responsible for maintenance gatekeeping activities.
  • Responsible for scheduling mechanical crafts.
  • Lead reliability initiatives and projects as assigned.
  • Work on productivity, cost, and quality improvement teams.
  • Build employee development programs to create high skill level and maximum versatility.
  • Develop and Implement best-in-class maintenance practices throughout the mill (Precision Installation Techniques, Lubrication, Predictive Maintenance)
  • Mentor working leaders.
  • Supervise the mechanical maintenance crews.
  • Work with operations, other maintenance supervision and maintenance crews to implement planned work, emergency work and preventative maintenance schedules as required (work as part of a team or lead the team)
  • Interface with Engineering, vendors, in-house crafts and outside contractors to complete capital projects and expense projects throughout area of responsibility
  • Provide technical assistance on maintenance related needs.
  • Work extended hours when necessary and weekend coverage on a rotating basis (covering maintenance areas on weekends).
  • Move about the mill freely (extensive walking, climb ladders and stairs, etc.) and able to tolerate temperature extremes.
  • Must communicate effectively (oral and written) and make decisions in emergency situations.
