About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing Maintenance employees and for maintaining and repairing Farouk System, Inc. buildings, equipment, facilities and grounds. This role involves overseeing shift operations, ensuring production schedules are met, managing PM schedules, projects, and outside contractors, and reviewing job orders to determine work priorities. The supervisor will also be responsible for resource quotes for potential projects and equipment. Additionally, the role requires observing machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions, managing the setup, changeover, and operation of various machinery, and performing facility maintenance including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs. Advanced mechanical and electronic troubleshooting to resolve equipment malfunctions, minimize downtime, and ensure Optimal Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is crucial. The supervisor will plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, wiring specifications, codes, and equipment principles, potentially including fabrication and modifications. Maintaining an effective management process for parts, equipment, and tools, ensuring strict adherence to SOPs and cGMP, and reviewing various logs and records for compliance are key responsibilities. The role also includes mentoring junior technicians, identifying opportunities for process improvements, enforcing safety rules (LOTO, PPE, hazardous materials), and possessing strong mechanical skills for troubleshooting complex, automated machinery. A deep understanding of aseptic behaviors, media fills, and sterile gowning qualifications is required, along with familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 22716, and other safety regulations. The supervisor will manage team performance, coach for development, communicate effectively across departments, maintain team attendance and schedules, and address performance issues with management. Requirements

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • 5 + years of related experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing maintenance on mechanical equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial electricity required.
  • High School diploma required.
  • Ability to operate machines, hand tools and electronic equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble equipment.
  • Excellent project management and planning skills required.
  • Ability to display leadership skills.
  • Strong management and communication skills required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST-III), NICET Certification, NC3, and like certifications strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees shift operations, assigns daily tasks to operators, and ensures production schedules are met in accordance with ISO 22716 quality standards.
  • Ensures that all maintenance staff adheres to all safety and company policies and procedures.
  • Includes planning and managing PM schedules, projects, and outside contractors.
  • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
  • Resource quotes for potential projects, equipment, and facility building requirements.
  • Observe the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeter and other testing devices.
  • Manages and has the ability to do the setup, changeover, and operation of bottle, filling, capping, and packing machinery, while maintaining a continuous clean and safe work environment.
  • Facility maintenance experience and proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and facility repairs.
  • Performs advanced mechanical and electronic troubleshooting to resolve equipment malfunctions, minimize downtime, and ensure Optimal Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Maintains an effective management process for parts, equipment, and tools.
  • Ensures strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP.
  • Reviews Batch Production Records (BPR), Preventative Maintenance logs, track activities in CMMS, and complete necessary documentation for compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the record keeping of maintenance repairs performed.
  • Mentors’ junior technicians on aseptic techniques, equipment operation, and proper gowning procedures by working on floor side by side with maintenance staff.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements, such as reducing scrap, increasing efficiency, and implementing 5S.
  • Effectively reducing downtime and maintaining a continuous production schedule.
  • Enforces safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and hazardous material handling.
  • Implements and enforces safe work practices.
  • Solves problems related to gears, levers, pulleys, and PLCs, including troubleshooting sensors, switches, and control outputs of motors and solenoids.
  • Able to manage team performance, coach for development, and communicate effectively across departments such as Quality, Maintenance, and Production.
  • Maintain team attendance and shift schedule
  • Address team performance issues with Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
