About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor role is responsible for making departmental decisions regarding maintenance management, developing an understanding of equipment and manufacturing processes, and training and supervising skilled trades. This position offers sound technical and engineering advice for facilities performance improvement, utilizes a CMMS, and may use CAD for equipment alterations. The supervisor selects vendors, troubleshoots mechanical processes, installs new equipment, develops cost-saving ideas, supervises design changes, monitors energy use, researches alteration requests, negotiates contracts, and manages work orders and preventive maintenance schedules. Ensuring the safety and security of the physical plant, completing administrative work, and communicating department projects with plant management are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Innovative, have good technical and mechanical knowledge, and possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Makes departmental decisions regarding maintenance (maintenance management)

  • Utilizes a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Uses CAD to gather information and design custom alterations to equipment
  • Selects vendors for equipment purchases
  • Troubleshoots mechanical processes
  • Installs and starts-up new equipment and processes
  • Develops creative ideas to cut costs
  • Supervises equipment design changes
  • Monitors and controls energy use
  • Researches alteration requests and provides justification
  • Negotiates and oversees contract work
  • Authorizes, delegates and follows-up with maintenance work-orders, schedules preventive maintenance for equipment
  • Ensures safety and security of physical plant and facilities
  • Verifies and completes administrative work
  • Communicates department projects with plant management
