About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor will have excellent organizational skills, be self-directed, and confident in their decision-making abilities. This role is responsible for achieving maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety, supporting troubleshooting and observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met. The supervisor will manage the department cost in an aggressive manner, assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost and developing key metrics. Responsibilities include maintenance planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes, effectively communicating goals and/or instructions, managing conflicts, supervising maintenance and cleanup personnel on varying schedules, and managing contractor safety through active leadership. The role involves maintenance of sawmill equipment (including De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems), ensuring the safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, assisting with and verifying Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits), arranging WF training and mentoring apprentices, creating and planning improvement projects, managing parts with the purchaser, and scheduling and attendance. The position will include periodic weekend coverage and inspecting completed work.

Requirements

  • Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Well organized
  • Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
  • Leadership and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Two or Four-year degree preferred
  • Prior Supervisory experience preferred
  • Lumber industry experience preferred
