About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance and inventory staff and is responsible for all maintenance activities at Metro Park East, Metro Park West, and applicable equipment at Metro Transfer stations. This role manages the maintenance shop, equipment, and systems; implements effective maintenance practices; and coordinates maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable facility operations. The position requires medium- to long term planning, with a 6–12-month outlook on priorities.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • 3- 5 years of Management experience.
  • 5-7 years’ experience as journeyman level mechanic
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point is essential
  • Experience in lean/Six-Sigma process or ability to understand 5S processes

  • Consistently completes routine maintenance and inspections to ensure machines, processes, or tools are functioning as expected; thoroughly follows test and maintenance procedures to resolve operating malfunctions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with heavy equipment like bulldozers, graders, compactors, and semi-trucks
  • Commercial driver’s license
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures
  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Automation
  • Experience with shop software systems
  • Welding experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and oversees the preventative maintenance program.
  • Collaborates with operations management to develop and manage the maintenance budget and equipment replacement schedules.
  • Supervises the maintenance and inventory staff, setting priorities for equipment maintenance and repair in alignment with operational needs.
  • Adheres to facility cleanliness expectations, organizational systems, inventory, and facility standard work procedures while maintaining a vision for continuous improvement.
  • Manages the maintenance program, including recordkeeping, work order preparation, tool and parts organization, parts procurement, and in house or outsourced fabrication and engineering.
  • Coordinates and assigns repairs, services, and emergency responses to mechanics and third party service providers as needed.
  • Reviews daily equipment logs, consolidates information, and initiates work orders.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues; performs repairs and adjustments when appropriate; or arranges external service while maintaining accurate service records.
  • Maintains shop organization, cleanliness standards, and standard work procedures, while promoting continuous improvement.
  • Performs administrative duties necessary to support maintenance operations.
  • Maintains a required onsite toolbox.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Metro Waste Authority’s Environmental Management System (EMS). Guided by the EMS processes and procedures, we focus on six main areas aimed at increasing diversion and/or protecting the environment. These include: Recycling, Household Hazardous Waste Collection, Organics Management, Water Quality Improvement, Greenhouse Gas Reduction, Environmental Education.
