About The Position

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor I provides day-to-day leadership and direction to maintenance personnel while remaining actively involved in mechanical and preventative maintenance work. This position coordinates maintenance activities to support safe, reliable plant operations; assists with prioritizing repairs and preventative maintenance; diagnoses and repairs gas, diesel and heavy equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and general plant equipment; and works closely with production and plant leadership on maintenance needs and special projects.

Requirements

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, and other departments
Must have strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance, including mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical/electronic systems
Must have experience troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines and industrial equipment, including motors, forklifts, and related plant equipment
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation
Must have basic computer skills and the ability to use maintenance/work-order systems, email, and other business systems as required
Must demonstrate leadership skills, sound judgment, organization, and the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a production environment
Must be able to coach employees, provide clear work direction, and address performance or safety concerns appropriately
Must be able to operate hand tools, power tools, mobile and stationary plant equipment, and shop equipment such as a drill press
Must be able to work effectively across departments and respond appropriately to urgent equipment or production needs
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior industrial maintenance experience is required

Nice To Haves

Additional technical education and/or training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical systems, welding, or a related field is preferred.
Previous lead, supervisory, or demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the daily work of maintenance mechanics, including assigning and prioritizing work based on safety, production needs, equipment condition, and preventative maintenance schedules
Provide hands-on support with fabrication, installation, modification, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment
Maintain and repair powered equipment, including forklifts, manlifts, motors, diesel equipment, and other mobile or stationary equipment
Coach and support maintenance employees in safe work practices, troubleshooting methods, equipment repairs, and quality workmanship
Coordinate maintenance activities with production supervisors and other departments to minimize downtime and support production schedules
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and general plant systems within the scope of the position
Ensure preventative maintenance and routine inspections are completed accurately and on schedule; assist with maintaining maintenance records and work orders
Perform and/or coordinate inspections of fire systems, water systems, cranes, and other facility or safety-related equipment as assigned
Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend repairs, modifications, or process improvements to improve reliability and reduce downtime
Design, fabricate, and modify equipment for various processes as operational needs change
Work with the Plant Manager and other leadership on maintenance projects, shutdown planning, equipment needs, contractor coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives
Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, housekeeping standards, and environmental requirements; immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors
Provide day-to-day work direction and technical guidance to assigned maintenance employees.
Assist with training, onboarding, coaching, scheduling, and development of maintenance personnel.
Monitor work quality, productivity, safety, and completion of assigned maintenance activities; communicate concerns and recommendations to the Plant Manager.
Participate in employee performance discussions, corrective action processes, and other supervisory responsibilities in partnership with management and Human Resources, as assigned.
Help maintain appropriate staffing coverage and coordinate response to breakdowns, shutdowns, and after-hours maintenance needs.
