About The Position

The Maintenance Superintendent provides continuous oversight of the execution of maintenance work, communicating any deviations to work schedules, ensuring any noted improvements to the execution process are proceduralized and clearly communicated, and necessary closure and reliability data is promptly input for each job. It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Superintendent to ensure that all employees and contractors work in a safe manner and comply with all policies/procedures. The Maintenance Superintendent oversees the safe execution of work, while proactively managing and avoiding environmental impact. This position reports to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager and serves as a backup to that position as needed. While in an environment of conflicting and rapidly changing priorities, proactively lead and direct all team members towards the achievement of safety objectives, business goals, and continuous improvements to meet the business needs of the plant. Manage performance by delivering daily results in support of Safety, Health, & Environmental compliance, fixed cost compliance, and unit profitability. Manage efficient utilization of all resources within the Team to best support the Business. Lead and ensure the career development of key personnel at all levels for the purposes of succession planning. Direct customers, both internal and external, with priorities to achieve goals of the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of chemical plant or manufacturing environment experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of SAP, and Maintenance Workflow process.
  • Knowledge of Rotating Equipment (Sundyne, centrifugal pumps, PD pumps, Recip. Compressors, and turbomachinery).
  • Experience with Microsoft products, such as Project, Excel, etc.
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of related industrial equipment required.
  • Safety role model.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • A thorough understanding of the maintenance work processes and its interactions with operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Outgoing and assertive individual that drives cultural change that possesses a track record of accomplishment in leading roles by driving accountability.
  • Focused and self-motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally with other leaders on time sensitive projects.
  • Ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.
  • Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 3-5 years of direct planning and scheduling experience and demonstrated proficiency in industry-wide and plant-specific safety, equipment repair, work processes planning, piping and instrumentation layout, and personnel management techniques and procedures required.

  • Commits to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioral Safety as applicable to the position.
  • Ensures the site safety principles are adhered to by third party vendors and contractors through auditing and field presence.
  • Maintains and controls the safe and efficient operation of the production unit using established operating disciplines and procedures.
  • Leads by example when it comes to safety and encourages others to work and perform in a safe manner at all times.
  • Oversees and supports the Maintenance Manager with regards to setting a weekly plant maintenance schedule.
  • Interfaces with Operations to set priorities to ensure immediate and long-term plant reliability.
  • Ensures that systems are in place for maximizing the long-term reliability of the site and the safe execution of maintenance work.
  • Manages and directs all outage related activities related to outage project scope development, outage budget management, reliability requirements, shut down and start up support.
  • Initiates and assists Maintenance and Reliability Engineers to help analyze and resolve any equipment reliability issues that are presented.
  • Assists in the development of annual Maintenance department operating budget.
  • Works with Maintenance Supervisor to manage allocation of expenditures to maintain high plant reliability and asset integrity.
  • Provides guidance to direct reports and maintenance work processes.
  • Determines specific capabilities of subordinates and defines development plans for each as well as for the department to address and surpass capability gaps on both individual as well as departmental level.
  • Develops Performance, Training and Career Development Plans for all members of the team, evaluates annually.
