About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Staff member assists with the day-to-day maintenance and housekeeping of the Meriden-New Britain-Berlin YMCA and its facilities. The role includes cleaning and sanitizing assigned areas and may involve window washing, meeting setup, pool cleaning, snow removal, groundskeeping, emergency duties, and other related responsibilities.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
Basic understanding of equipment upkeep and care.
Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use.

Nice To Haves

Six months or more of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Complete duties on the daily schedule and maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
Perform cleaning tasks such as wet and dry mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, and vacuuming.
Perform seasonal lawn care and snow removal.
Work varied hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays, depending on operational needs, particularly during severe weather.
Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
Record and report needed repairs and make repairs as directed.
Secure the YMCA building and property during the shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
Set up furniture for events as needed.
Perform other duties as required.
