About The Position
The Maintenance Specialist in the Schenectady Facilities Operation group will troubleshoot and analyze machine tools in our Steam Turbine & Generator manufacturing plant within GE VERNOVA Gas Power in Schenectady, NY. They will be expected to make business critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics within a particular cell.
Requirements
- AAS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical field (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance function)
- 3 Years of technical maintenance experience.
- Manufacturing equipment or military maintenance with training
- Knowledge of common computer tools, software, machine applications, portable electronic devices and technology applications
Nice To Haves
- 5 Years related machine tool maintenance experience in a large manufacturing environment or equivalent military maintenance experience with Mechanical or Electrical training from a military “A/C” schools
- Broad understanding of mechanical and electrical aspects of machine tool controls, PLC’s, robotics, and alignments
- Experience as a Machine Tool Field Service Representative
Responsibilities
- Analyze Machine Tools failures for indications of assignable causes, identify and recommend corrective actions, and work with group to implement.
- Become the technical expert on industrial equipment maintenance and operation for CNC machine tools, robotics, and hydraulic systems for multiple source vendors, controls and processes.
- Identify and diagnose problems related to the proper operation of equipment mechanically, hydraulically and electrically.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager in assigned area, providing him with weekly metrics on performance, schedules on critical repairs, as well as daily updates on critical equipment.
- Perform as a primary point of contact with Equipment OEM and parts vendors.
- Recommend major rebuilds, and redesigns to Manufacturing Engineering, and perform minor redesigns for the elimination of future breakdowns
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering in the review, design, installation and upgrade of machines, prepare Preventative Maintenance schedule, lubrication charts, identify and ensure necessary spare parts levels.
- Lead teams of hourly trade personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, repair and modify industrial machinery
- Direct and train skilled trades in the latest repair techniques and maintenance methods
- Contribute to continuous improvement using Lean and 5S Initiatives.
- Develop opportunities for reducing operating expenses and improving capabilities
- Active participation in safety initiatives.
