About The Position

Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for a Maintenance Specialist to join our Facilities Management team! This position serves as the hospital's technical expert for HVAC, refrigeration, environmental controls, and related building systems. It performs highly skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, programming, and preventive maintenance of complex mechanical and control systems that support a safe, comfortable, and compliant healthcare environment. The incumbent independently diagnoses system failures, implements system upgrades and energy-efficiency improvements, monitors building automation and environmental control systems, and provides technical guidance to Maintenance Mechanics and other staff. The Maintenance Specialist helps ensure the reliable operation of critical facility infrastructure through advanced technical expertise, proactive maintenance practices, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Four (4) years of experience in a specialized maintenance field such as boilers, engines, HVAC, biomed, welding, refrigeration, electric, general contracting, etc.
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Produce a negative drug screen for all illegal substances in the State of Alaska prior to the start of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Related certifications such as Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Journeyman Mechanic certification, HVAC certification, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the hospital's technical expert for HVAC, refrigeration, environmental controls, and related building systems.
  • Perform highly skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, programming, and preventive maintenance of complex mechanical and control systems.
  • Diagnose system failures independently.
  • Implement system upgrades and energy-efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor building automation and environmental control systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to Maintenance Mechanics and other staff.
  • Ensure the reliable operation of critical facility infrastructure through advanced technical expertise, proactive maintenance practices, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and continuous process improvement.

Benefits

  • Pay starts at $35.39 per hour and up based on relevant experience.
