Requirements

  • Able to work independently and with others.
  • Exceptional Electrical and PLC skills. Knowledge on mechanical systems.
  • Able to accept responsibility for work performed.
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Dependable and motivated.
  • Good past work experience.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to work at heights (with or without fall protection). Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness.
  • Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms and horns on forklifts.
  • Stereoptic vision of 20/40 or better and peripheral vision of 70 degrees or greater and ability to read 10-12 point font at a distance of 12-18 inches. Ability to complete an “Isihara” color vision test.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds at a minimum of ten times per hour.
  • Ability to lift 45 pounds over shoulder height a minimum of ten times per hour.
  • Able to work in extremes of heat/cold.
  • Able to work independently in a potentially isolated area of the building.
  • Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in other areas of the complex.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman papers or equivalent technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Engineering team on continues improvements in their production area.
  • Inspect and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, electrical and mechanical systems on machines.
  • Direct the Maintenance Journeyman or Maintenance Apprentice in absence of GL.
  • Be technical lead in high priority breakdowns.
  • Stay cognizant of all work performed on assigned machines and machine performance.
  • Assist GL in disciplinary matters of personnel within group.
  • Maintain neat and orderly appearance of shop areas and machines.
  • Seek training to stay current with job requirements.
  • Assume control of machine when a situation arises which has potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of machine.
  • Insure a safe and healthy work environment for department personnel.
