About The Position

Holtec Palisades is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Specialist in its Mechanical Maintenance department based at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert, MI. This role is part of a unique and historic undertaking for the nuclear industry and the nation, as Palisades is positioned to become the first nuclear power plant in the United States to restart after previously entering the early stages of decommissioning. The Maintenance Specialist will perform project cost and cash flow forecasts, supervise project planning, installation, and inspection activities, and assist and guide the site through the procedure process when preparing new procedures or changing existing procedures.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Maintenance, Engineering, Project Management or Production Organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and work within deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation.
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
  • Proficiency with current computer business applications.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and schedule Vendor support as needed.
  • Develops and maintains tools to improve the efficiency of performing project work.
  • Reviews and evaluates performance of the project staff and contractors.
  • Oversees procedures and documentation which govern and control project activities.
  • Recommends necessary project training as required.
  • Proposes project changes which improve efficiency and safety.
  • Interfaces with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of project activities.
  • Communicates technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.
  • Assist in writing/changing procedures and routing them for review and approval.
  • Ensures procedures comply with the procedure writer’s guide and procedures are reviewed and approved in accordance with EN-AD-101.
  • Participants in CRG meetings to assist in determining when Condition Reports identify if procedure issues are simply procedure enhancement request or if they are conditions adverse to quality.
