About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist at Ice River Sustainable Solutions is a high-level technical expert responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues within a high-speed, multi-product manufacturing facility. This facility handles food and beverage bottling, plastics blow molding, resin handling systems, and associated utilities. The role's primary focus is to maximize equipment performance, reliability, and uptime, support capital projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The specialist works hands-on across production, packaging, and facilities systems to address advanced technical challenges, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations without direct supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years of hands-on mechanical, electrical, and automation experience in high-speed food & beverage, plastics, or bottling manufacturing.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC systems, robotics, industrial automation, and utilities (air, water, refrigeration).
  • Strong experience with CMMS systems (e.g., FiiX,) and preventative/predictive maintenance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems independently and under high-pressure conditions.
  • Familiarity with OEE, lean, six sigma, and RCA methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory standards (ESA, MOL, health & safety, food safety).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools to support maintenance decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, modify, and maintain complex machinery, automation, and utilities, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and robotics systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement long-term solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Execute preventative and predictive maintenance tasks in accordance with established schedules, work orders, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Support OEMs and contractors during equipment installations, overhauls, and shutdowns, ensuring proper operational readiness.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers and ensure machinery is operationally ready for production.
  • Analyze equipment performance metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR, R&M per unit) to identify areas for improvement.
  • Apply reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA), 5s, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance equipment uptime and process efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to systems, processes, or procedures to improve safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and continuous improvement teams on technical solutions and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental, and food safety regulations.
  • Follow strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safe work practices during all maintenance activities.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to verify equipment meets safety and food-grade standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety investigations, and preventive action planning.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, modifications, and troubleshooting procedures in the CMMS.
  • Monitor and manage critical spare parts and equipment supplies to minimize production interruptions.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to team members, without formal supervisory responsibility.
