About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Specialist develops and assists in the implementation and monitoring of facility support services and activities for centers in the metro Atlanta area. This role is responsible for managing the maintenance of facilities and transportation vehicles in a hands-on capacity, adhering to Head Start Performance Standards and Policy Council directives. The workday involves performing various maintenance duties at Easterseals locations, including repairs and installations of equipment and systems, as well as other physical tasks. Responsibilities may also include overseeing contractual work and completing necessary documentation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in facility maintenance or related fields.
  • OR A Technical Diploma, Associate's degree, or above in a related field of study and three (3) years of experience in facility maintenance or related fields.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Mechanical systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Electrical systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Carpentry and roofing.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance processes.
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver’s license.
  • Knowledgeable of Microsoft Office.

  • Knowledge of facility licensure requirements and compliance procedures for a Child Development Center.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general repairs and services in all maintenance-related disciplines, including light repairs, light electrical, furniture assembly/build, and carpentry.
  • Assists in the diagnosis and repair of electrical and mechanical installations, plant, and equipment.
  • Handles plumbing repairs and maintenance, including replacing commodes, faucets, and sinks, and clearing drains.
  • Maintains HVAC systems, including filters and fans.
  • Performs routine minor landscaping, including cleaning roofs and playgrounds.
  • Replaces ceiling tiles and performs minor drywall work.
  • Paints and fills gaps or crevices on walls and sidewalks.
  • Repairs and monitors equipment, appliances, and fences.
  • Supervises cleaning work performed by outsourced cleaning companies and reports irregularities.
  • Available to work on emergency calls such as snow removal, floods, and fire watch.
  • Develops, posts, and maintains evacuation plans as required.
  • Conducts regular center reviews, submits written reports with findings, and generates corrective plans if warranted.
  • Maintains documentation of submitted reports.
  • Provides onsite assistance to Center Managers, Family Support Advocates, parents, and teaching staff regarding facility and transportation activities.
  • Ensures that all vehicles and facilities are maintained safely.
  • Prepares daily schedules of work for the following day and submits them to the Director of Facilities.
  • Prepares and submits daily accountability sheets to the Director of Facilities.
  • Performs repairs and assembly of equipment, replacement of electrical/mechanical equipment and devices, minor painting, and housekeeping as required.
  • Inspects contractor-completed work and reports findings to the Director of Facilities.
  • Performs required weekly, monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and annual preventive maintenance as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the supervisor.
