About The Position

Responsible for the maintenance of St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho Council’s physical assets. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will assess and prioritize deferred maintenance, upcoming needs, and potential improvements. Focused on owned properties, but not excluding leased facilities, offices, stationary and mobile equipment. The individual must be a self-starter and address maintenance needs across various trades (including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, general construction, equipment and more). When a project or organizational need exceeds the skills and abilities of this individual's ability they will coordinate with the Executive Director and the Capital Project Representative to assess. Responsible for routine maintenance tasks throughout the facilities.

Requirements

  • Broad handyman type skill set
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other necessary equipment
  • Ability to recognize, repair and then report issues to Store Managers, Director of Stores and Executive Director
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail, and pride in workmanship
  • Safety minded approach to situations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times, including removing of debris and cleaning area at the end of each day
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

  • Vehicular mechanical knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair
  • Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs
  • Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manuals as needed
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician
  • Minimizes work left for contracted specialist
  • Drywall/plaster repair and painting
  • Changing lights
  • Plumbing repairs, replacements, installation
  • Carpentry repairs and installations (doors, shelves, countertops)
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems
  • Concrete and asphalt paving inspections and repairs
  • Grounds and security maintenance (fencing, gate arms and gates)
  • Creates and coordinates a schedule for floor cleaning for all facilities
  • Lawn and landscape care
  • Assist volunteer coordinator in management of volunteer labor groups
  • Maintains an inventory of tools and equipment
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times, including removing of debris and cleaning area at the end of each day
  • Performs any other duties as assigned and deemed necessary
