About The Position

This position will report to the O&M Manager. The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for System Owner duties, including coordinating maintenance activities for assigned areas/equipment to ensure generating availability, efficiency, and reliability. The role involves initiating, developing, and implementing plant improvement projects, serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical direction and maintenance expertise to maintenance and contract personnel on all system issues. The position also supports and coordinates plant processes such as Maximo, Living Maintenance Strategy, and Event Learning. Additionally, the Maintenance Specialist will develop and monitor budgets for process and equipment needs and provide support to Team Leaders and the Engineering/Performance Department. While the position is associated with System P (Buildings and Grounds) and System S (Air System), system assignments will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications, meaning the selected candidate may be assigned to a different system.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of general plant equipment, systems, and operations.
  • Critical thinking skills, ability to analyze situations, and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and the budgeting process.
  • Ability to make decisions and demonstrate short- and long-term strategic planning skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer-based applications (Microsoft Office applications and Enterprise Solutions tools).
  • Understanding of the IBEW/Union contract.

  • Ability to use EDS and OIS historians to troubleshoot process issues.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate maintenance activities for assigned areas/equipment to ensure generating availability, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Initiate, develop, and implement plant improvement projects.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing technical direction and maintenance expertise to maintenance and contract personnel on all system issues.
  • Support and coordinate plant processes, including Maximo, Living Maintenance Strategy, Event Learning, and other related programs.
  • Develop and monitor budgets (baseline, outage, and special projects) for process and equipment needs.
  • Provide support to Team Leaders and the Engineering/Performance Department, as necessary.
  • Ensure all safe work practices are strictly adhered to while performing work efficiently.
  • Monitor the routine operation of assigned plant equipment.
  • Investigate equipment improvements on an ongoing basis by developing work scopes and solutions and implementing action plans.
  • Develop and track routine, outage, and special project budgets for assigned equipment, systems, and/or processes. Utilize Enterprise Solutions tools for budget tracking.
  • Execute major maintenance or replacement activities by providing specific direction and coordination of assigned maintenance crews and/or contractor personnel; monitor quality, cost, and adherence to contract specifications, including, but not limited to, OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Serve as the System SME by providing classroom and on-the-job training to maintenance personnel.
  • Effectively utilize Enterprise Solutions tools to maintain system efficiency and reliability.
  • Optimize system maintenance strategies.
  • Identify and address equipment issues.
  • Utilize the Event Learning process.
  • Establish ongoing relationships with key vendors; gather and analyze acceptance data on new or rebuilt equipment; and stay informed of current technology.
