About The Position

The Maintenance Specialist Master Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of healthcare facilities by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This position demands a high level of technical expertise to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions that minimize downtime and support patient care environments. The role involves collaborating closely with clinical and administrative staff to prioritize maintenance tasks while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. The Maintenance Specialist Master Technician is also responsible for maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities and contributing to the development of preventive maintenance programs. Ultimately, this position ensures that all facility systems operate reliably, supporting the overall mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance, with at least 4 years in a healthcare or similarly regulated environment.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance relevant to healthcare facilities.
  • ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Maintenance Personnel certification or equivalent licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Master Technician or equivalent professional credential.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • EPA certification for handling refrigerants.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards applicable to healthcare facilities.
  • Additional training or certification in biomedical equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems within healthcare facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure minimal disruption to healthcare operations.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and document findings to proactively address potential issues.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to schedule maintenance activities that align with patient care priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, parts inventory, and equipment service histories.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff to enhance team capabilities and knowledge.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests to support critical healthcare functions.
