About The Position

To The Rescue is seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist II to help maintain our residential and commercial properties throughout the Cedar Rapids area. This is a hands-on, varied role involving general building repairs, preventative maintenance, property upkeep, work orders, and seasonal grounds maintenance. You'll work independently and with others in the field, coordinate with contractors and other departments, and help keep properties and facilities running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Experienced, dependable, hands-on problem solver
  • Previous maintenance, property maintenance, facilities, handyman, or similar experience
  • Experience with residential or commercial property maintenance
  • Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, landscaping, or other general maintenance work
  • Comfortable handling a variety of general repair and maintenance tasks
  • Able to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate solutions
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of assigned work
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility for company vehicle insurance
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Complete general repairs involving walls, ceilings, flooring, doors, windows, siding, roofing, and other building components
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of property needs, including basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and water heaters
  • Complete preventative maintenance and respond to work orders in a timely manner
  • Inspect properties and identify maintenance needs or areas requiring attention
  • Maintain safe, clean, and well-kept properties and grounds
  • Assist with seasonal yard maintenance, landscaping, weed control, and turf care
  • Perform snow removal and de-icing of sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas as needed
  • Support cleaning and other facility-related needs when necessary
  • Participate in the rotating weekend/holiday on-call schedule as needed.
  • Work independently to prioritize and complete maintenance needs with minimal supervision.
  • Take ownership of assigned work and follow through to ensure maintenance issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
  • Communicate clearly with the Maintenance Supervisor and team regarding work completed, outstanding needs, or issues that require additional support.
  • Collaborate with other members of the maintenance team and assist with tasks as needed to keep properties safe, functional, and well-maintained.
