About The Position

Reporting to the Planning Team Leader, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating both online and offline maintenance activities for routine electrical work at Plant Scherer. This role supports maintenance crews by developing detailed work plans, estimating labor and material requirements, scheduling resources, and ensuring maintenance activities are executed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include supporting preventive maintenance programs, emergency and emergent work, maintenance strategy compliance, inventory and material management, and optimizing Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI). The planner works closely with Operations, System Owners, contractors, and vendors to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, and maximize plant availability. This position also participates in an on-call rotation. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical maintenance professional who enjoys problem-solving, planning complex work activities, and partnering with multiple teams to improve plant reliability and performance.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of power plant systems, equipment, and operations.
  • Experience with work management and planning software such as Maximo, CiM, MRS, Tableau, Primavera, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to adapt to change and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as with vendors and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, and self-motivation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of power plant Maintenance and/or Operations experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Journeyman Electrician experience preferred.
  • Planning and scheduling experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and Capital Budget processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate and promote a strong commitment to safety.
  • Administer the work management process by reviewing Condition Reports, determining priorities, validating work information, and eliminating duplicate requests.
  • Manage and review maintenance backlogs to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling four-week maintenance schedule and communicate any constraints or challenges to key stakeholders.
  • Create detailed job plans and work packages to improve maintenance productivity.
  • Identify, procure, receive, and manage materials required for maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations, System Owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and update outage work packages for planned, forced, and maintenance outages.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance unit availability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and external service providers.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to maintenance personnel.
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate inventory stocking levels to support operational needs.
  • Ensure all planning activities meet or exceed the expectations outlined in the Southern Generation Playbook.
